Boa Vista International Airport, on the island of Boa Vista, was inaugurated in 2007 on a former aerodrome. In 2010, it was expanded to improve its operational capacity. Renamed Aristides Pereira International Airport on 19 November 2011, this airport is currently the third most active in Cape Verde and is the gateway for many foreign tourists and nationals.
With a runway 2,100m long and 45m wide, 26 metres above sea level, it is prepared to receive up to five medium-sized aircraft and process around 1,560 passengers per hour.
This airport serves the third largest island of the archipelago, as well as the tourism attracted by its wide beaches and its islets, propitious for diving.
